BOOK LOVE:  Ask your Monroe Middle School student who their favorite author is and what he/she is reading!  Book Love is built on the idea that all students can become lifelong readers. It’s designed to establish a school climate in which reading and books are part of our daily conversations.  With Book Love we will provide 20–30 minutes reading time multiple times during the week. We help students to determine their current reading rate as well as set a goal for increasing that rate. Teachers will hold individual book talks with each student. Students lead the book talk with the teacher providing targeted questions. Our goal for struggling readers is to expose them to as many books as possible so that they might find genres and authors that are appealing to them. All MMS students currently have a Book Love book that they selected from our library.
